Darkness Looms as Union Threatens Shutdown

The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) workers has on Thursday threatening to shut down operations over the lack of protection from the dreaded virus COVID-19.

General Secretary, NUEE, Joe Ajaero, disclosed that the body is considering the option so as to protect its workers in the wake of the global pandemic.

While confirming that no deadline had been issued to anyone to that effect, he, however, heightened fears following the return of the Minister (of Power) to work from a recent trip to Germany and Egypt, without the compulsory 14-day self-isolation.

“It’s not like we have given any person any deadline because the minister flaunted Mr. President’s directive and moved straight to the office,” said Ajaero

“Of course you know that after some time, we have to check the guys working there if there is any incident of Coronavirus suspicion.”

He added: “If it doesn’t happen, there will be no need for us to forcefully pull out our people. However, we keep monitoring all this.”
