Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic , Delta state has begin their lockdown today to prevent the spread of the virus.
Although no case has been recorded yet, the Delta state government sees this as a preventive measure to make the state remains free from it.
Due to the lockdown, movement of persons is totally restricted except those on essential duties like medical, media, security personnel and some others on special duties.
Delta state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa who addressed the state warned that those who disobey will be severely dealt with. He advised Deltans to stay at home and keep themselves safe.
He said during this period, street football is not allowed as well as unnecessary street gathering.
He also said those selling food stuffs can sell from their homes and the government will set up designated centres where food item sellers can sell their items but warned that he has set up a task force to arrest sellers who sell at exorbitant prices as well as confiscate their food items.
